When I did this it was February, and weather ws not brilliant, but OK
I stopped at the Ship Hotel at Allonby with a fairly poor weather forecast that deteriorated during the evening
Then a BBC film crew arrived!
They were there to use it as a base record the oncoming storm, along with the consequent flooding, gales and general mayhem or disaster as the sea wall failed, roads were swept away etc
Spent a brilliant evening in the bar, slept through a fairly windy night and woke to one of those fine clear and sharp mornings that only really occur after a storm
BBC had gone home
