Strap yourselves in, this is a long one!

Many years ago I was travelling to Doncaster, used to go to a nightclub there called Outlook (from memory was above the shopping centre)

Anyway this particular night the heavens opened and the roads flooded, I came around a corner straight into a flood in my HA Viva.

This was Penistone. No mobile phones in them days so I trudged to the local pub. Ordered myself a beer and asked to use the phone to call the AA.

"You won't get the AA tonight" was the general response from the locals.

"You can sleep at our farm and ring them in the morning"

So I stayed in the pub with the locals until lord knows when and went back to the farm with two complete strangers!

Breakfast was served, full bacon, sausage, eggs etc!

"Where is the toilet" I asked, "just go in the cowshed we don't have a proper toilet" came the answer.

Brilliant folk, they called the AA who sorted the problem and got me on my way.

There's a "World's End" near LLangollen as well. I remember the climb out of Llangollen on one of my early club runs.

Rumour has it it used to be called Scotton Beck, until some guitarist/singer/songwriter from Middlesbrough pinched the Pubs plastic outside loo for a highly classified, top secret project.

Been there, camped. Some twep came along and wanted 2/6 from each of us. We said he should send the bill to the chief scout. He got a bit arsy so we packed up and walked away. He discovered that the 5 tents were 10 teenagers and we were slightly younger than he was.
