I had come from the top of ovenden way down wharfedale mount then onto long lane, I was about two thirds of the way down long lane when the incident happened
What you call Wharfedale Mount, I know as Denfield Lane. One of half a dozen names for the same road, now with another. The only one in the local A - Z is over Shelf.
Street name sign at the top.

I cocked up yesterday, narrow lane, steep hill, bend at the bottom and I missed my braking point,I did a last of the late brakers routine, braked late and hard and left turning in until I was almost on the verge and just made it round.

At least you got round the bend upright, I did the self same thing many years ago but I wasn't so lucky. I hit gravel on the bend and ended up on the deck.

Did you do yourself much damage?

I came off the bike, hit a metal garage door and knocked myself out for a few minutes, when I came round I got on the bike and rode it home. I had bruising and a lumpy head but I was young and resilient back then.

Nope, I was fifteen year old without a care in the world, riding down warley road towards burnley road, if you are familiar with the road you will know it has a sharp right hander part way down, the road also forks to the left and brings you out almost opposite top of tuel lane. Well I was going too fast to go left and in hindsight probably too fast to follow the road to the right but I went for it hit the gravel and the next thing I know I'm propped up against someones garage door and the bike is laid a few feet away practically undamaged, the joys of being young and reckless eh.
