I brought a boardman team comp from Halfords burgess hill in early may when I got it home I took it down the road and the gears weren't ride so I took it back they said it was the cassette and chain needed replacement I got that replaced and after the third ride the chain parted where it had been joined and I went over the handle bars bending the handle bars and left hand sti shifter and after 21/2 weeks of phone calls to customer service they have agreed to replace the bike but im not having it built there getting it in the box :bicycle:
Looks like Halfords had you over! The bars in this case.

Probably a 50/50 split going on here as to the skills/trust in Halfords staff, so it seems.

FWIW, I once posted a thread about 2 of my LBS that wouldn't even work on a bike not bought directly from them (not 100% correct) as one would, but wouldn't quote & would also drop my work in favour of customer bikes (bought from them) that get booked in.

He even said he might get his Dad to do the jobs IF he came in to give him a hand.

When folk buy a non-Halfords bike and it goes wrong why don't they start a thread about it?
When folk buy a non-Halfords bike and it goes wrong why don't they have the skills to fix it themselves?

ok grumpy I see what your saying but would spend good money and let a half bit outfit rip you off that's up to you I don't and I haven't the ewnd of the day if Halfords want to sell boardman bikes they should be able to work on them too !!!!

I've used Halfords a few times, re Boardmans and our c2w. I've had mixed results although mostly positive I have to say. I had a problem with the front derailleur with my cx and opted to have a new one fitted by a lbs in Petersfield, I also had a couple of services done and it didn't compare. The
LBS was absolutely crap. I read so much about using your LBS on here and supporting them blah blah blah. Since then shop has shut and I now know why.

Experience various thobut innit?

Half bits or half wits.... I make a hobby out of putting right the cluster****s perpetuated on unsuspecting friends, colleagues and family by LBS's across our fair county. My fave this year is persuading someone six three they needed a 52cm frame. Largely, I suspect because that is what they had in stock. How they must have larfed...

As to rip off, the BEST vfm bike I own is still my Boardman HT Pro. Even better vfm than my Canyon and that is saying something. Horsham Halfords weren't allowed to sell the Pro range when I bought it and the Guildford store did me proud.

Even Evans can't work properly, or stock the right parts, for every bike they sell.

im lucky ive found a bike mechanic who been working on bikes for over 25 years so I got him to build my new boardman team carbon ive been out on it once and it rides like a dream the end of the day grumpy I don't want to fall out with you im just letting people know what ive been through im happy now ive got a good bike that will serve me well.
happy cycling :bicycle:
