Halfords: Leek or Macclesfield

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting a Boardman CX Team for the winter. Its just too good value plus 10% off with British Cycling.

My local stores are Leek or Macclesfield. Has anyone had any experience with bike builds from these 2 branches?

I tried to buy a cassette spacer for an 8 speed from the Macc store and the chap who served me told me they didn't exist. Not exactly a bike build experience, but a little disconcerting. It is also not a particularly large store. Never been in Leek. Altrincham has a much larger bike area than Macc. Stanley Green seems similar to Macc but not many staff.

I've always had poor experience with the bike 'hut' at Halford's Macclesfield.
Had a 'service' done years ago which needed re-servicing at my LBS. Never again.
