I’ve seen the Halfords Workstand online at the grand sum of £45. It gets lots of good reviews but I’m wondering if it can be any good.
Anyone got first hand experience of such a beast or a better suggestion.
I can’t justify mega money for a Park Tool Workstand. Thanks. Kev

Mine is from Lidl, years ago. No problems with it.

I got the Lidl one a couple of years ago. Great piece of kit, sturdy and well-built. Magnetic tool tray on stem.
It even came with a telescopic rod to steady the handlebar when the bike is lifted up.

I got the Aldi one 6 years ago which I think is the same. It's had a fair amount of use and still holding up, except the telescopic rod broke. The rivet fixing one of the end caps that carry the fastening straps snapped. I fixed it by drilling out the remains of the rivet and reattached with a self tapping screw and some epoxy. Good as new.

The biggest flaw is with the horizontal tube that holds the main clamp. It's almost impossible to tighten up the hand screw enough to stop it rotating. Reasonably easy to do it up enough to stop the bike rotating the tube from its own weight, even with a mid weight ebike. However exerting any extra force on the frame, such as pushing the rear wheel up into the dropouts, will twist the tube in the clamp, dropping the front of the bike. I worry that cranking it as hard as I can to stop this is going to stress that plastic clamp which will snap at some point. Hopefully not with the bike suspended!

An I presume that, being a smart LAF, you have already taken measurements and sourced a replacement?
