Halfords.

I just popped into Halfords. They have a Boardman Pro hybrid on offer at £400. It is a 2010 model with carbon forks. I was very tempted to buy it there and then. It is just the carbon that I am a bit nervous of. I had a look at the Carerra's while there. There was one that looked good but I noticed a slightly bent spoke. When I touched it with my finger the spoke came away from the rim. I was completely snapped. OK, so a purchaser would be right to demand a new wheel before purchase, but it doesn't seem a very good thing on a display model.

I did like that Boardman though.

I'm a Luddite. I like metal beneath me. I know it is irrational and carbon is fine but I just have this unease which no amount of fact or logic will erase.

I've been riding my Boardman Hybrid Pro for almost a year now. Gone over some right old pot holes and the carbon fork has remained intact. I was nervous too to begin with, but put it down to new experiences. Now it doesn't even cross my mind.

If I saw a new Hybrid Pro for £400 I'd buy it there and then!! Just change the tyres for something better once you get it - otherwise it'll be punctures-r-us!!!

Which halfords?! I'm tempted to get down there and then Ebay the crap out of it as I reckon its about £2-300 under priced.
