Is it because of three cross lacing on lightweight hubs with low spoke count, not usually used with that lacing and fat spokes? the spokes are all in groups of 4, but don't seem straight but that could be the photography and shadows.

But they're not all 3 cross are they? Some of them are 2 cross. Dunno whether that's a legit pattern.
