I know what you mean about Forest Road in the evening, although I don't find it too bad. I generally go via Finsbury Park, Caledonian Rd and Grays Inn Rd into the City. If I've got time I occasionally do a couple of laps of Regents Park on the way in. I use the A10 into Tottenham, very occasionally, if I'm chuffing out on the way home.
