I am going to Alentejo region in Portugal on 22nd March to cycle for one week.
I am a credit card tourer, meaning will stay in hotels/ bed and breakfast. I have already booked flights and accommodation. My total cost including flight is about £500.

I used to go to the Costa Blanca every March for that very reason. There is a great variety of cycling in the Benidorm area, including the 1,000 metre Tudons climb just behind it.

The hotels are still very cheap at that time of year and the CB has about the best climate in Europe for early spring sunshine. I thought about suggesting a CC cycling holiday there but the responsibility of organising it would be too much. Trying to get the cash out of people in advance and so on. The alternative would be to let people book their own rooms but then you couldn't get the discount prices, and would have to sort out your own airport transfers.

I think Tenerife might be a bit extreme for a forum holiday. I have a mate who has lived there off and on for about 6 years and he tells me that Teide is a monster climb by any standards, and that is the biggest cycling attraction there.

As for a weekend ... I would want to go for at least a week. 2 half-days are spent travelling but I suppose you could get rides in on those days if you timed the flights properly.

All very interesting, it was just a bit of a mad idea!

The way to take forward any mad idea is to take an irreversible/ expensive step. So you got to carry it out.
So I went ahead and booked flights! It cost £150 to include to carry the bike.

I will be going back to Mallorca in week 17, the week after Easter. Jannie is coming this time and we will hire bikes on the island.

We have no plans at the moment but it will probably involve a couple of days in Palma, a couple in Soller and a couple in Port de Pollenca. I would like to hire bikes in Soller and ride from Soller and down Sa Collabra and then take the boat back to Soller.

We will then travel by bus to Port de Pollenca and hire bikes and ride Cap de Formentor before returning to Palma by train and hiring bikes to ride the great cycle path along the coast.

Considering its not a plan, it looks pretty organised.

The idea idea of a CC cycling expedition is a great one !
We all have something to post and talk about on a daily basis so it would be good if some of us could get together over the spring or summer months to do something.

Have CC done anything like this before then?
