My lodger is fond of watching Columbo and one episode made shortly after Patrick McGoohan went to live in LA cast him as the villain alongside his pal, Peter Falk. In one scene as Columbo departs in his car, McGoohan adds 'Be seeing you', which was the village catchphrase and it made me laugh. My lodger looked baffled, so then I had to spend 20 minutes or so trying to explain the Prisoner to her...'it's set in an Italian styled village that's actually in Wales and when you try an escape, big balloons nab you...etc

.
I have visited Portmerion many moons ago back in the mid-90's. When I was there, the tide was out and someone had written in the sand 'I am not a number'

. And for Dr Who fans, the Tom Baker story 'Masque of Mandragora' was shot there. I've seen bits of the remake and it looks Ok although I suspect that they'll fudge it and explain it all for the audience like in the Cruise movie Vanilla Sky. Part of the attraction of this show is trying to figure it out like a puzzle.
