Lots of fireworks last night. Sounded like a good party.

Time to re-tell the story of an Indian friend and colleague. He'd not been in the UK long but was amazed and delighted how many of us Britishers seemed to be celebrating Diwali judging by all the fireworks.

He did twig eventually on discovering Guy Fawkes wasn't in fact a Hindu

Birmingham City Council use the same lights for Diwali celebrations in Sparkhill Park and Bonfire Night a week or two later

I drove around Leicester ring road just after midnight and didn't see any fireworks at all.
Roads were very quiet as well.

Happy Diwali to all.

Loads of the Indian ladies in work are all dressed up to the nines in saris and such. Some of the guys in long smocks / nehru suits too. It's all quite festive.
