And a big hug for those who never got to be mothers and those who are unable to remember their mothers with love and affection.

Unknown to Mrs Postman but known to me and our Dan.Charlotte came down from Edinburgh she stayed at her mates house last night. When we walked out of church she calmly walked down the street, looking like any other student out on a Sunday.Mrs Postman was stunned to say the least gobsmacked silenced and yes a little tearful. It was brilliant.

Thanks for the heads up: It's different in Germany and I regularly get into trouble for missing it...
and different in the states I think?

Must be an international conspiracy by an undercover group of guilt tripping mums (not mine for sure) .

Pretty sure that when I was a kid up north it was moire commonly known as mothering sunday which sounded odd - a call to "mother" folk/cripple them?

note - folks - i have no complexes about this - just intrigued by concepts/words.
good post though jtb - for thatnsk to the innovation of sunday trading gave folks who had forgotten a chance to pop out and grab a card/hand deliver if close enough.

It's a conspiracy by the greetings card manufacturers. Mothering Sunday is part of Lent and all to do with returning to the mother church.

Mothers day in the USA is a completely different thing and is a holiday recognised by the state.

Oh God, Neil Reid, I remember him on Top of the pops!
