It's a conspiracy by the greetings card manufacturers. Mothering Sunday is part of Lent and all to do with returning to the mother church.and different in the states I think?
Must be an international conspiracy by an undercover group of guilt tripping mums (not mine for sure) .
Pretty sure that when I was a kid up north it was moire commonly known as mothering sunday which sounded odd - a call to "mother" folk/cripple them?
note - folks - i have no complexes about this - just intrigued by concepts/words.
