Nothing winds me up more than people trying to impress me by telling me how much they've spent on a bike or a new piece of carbon.

If you enjoy your riding it doesn't matter if you're on your grans old Raliegh shopper!

But, as with any hobby, there will always be those who will have you believe that you couldn't possibly get by without the latest 'thing'.

That said, if you've got the money and it makes you happy, good luck to you and go for it.

Well the reason I ask is that Wiggle have a De Rosa in at £1895 which looks rather nice. So do I press the button and give myself an early birthday present or wait for my bike fit at the end of the month, all stress and worry it is no good for me.

I think that applies to most material things.

Your thought process should be how do I earn more money.

I got an email from Wiggle this evening advertising that bike and have been looking at it too.

Google the De Rosa r848 and you will find that the frame is the same as the Ribble New Sportive which you can have for about £500 cheaper, admittedly the De Rosa paint job looks nicer though. Have a good think before clicking the buy button... :-)
