I've slept on the streets of London in a cardboard box more nights in February and March than I care to remember.
However all in a good cause as it was raising money for Shelter.
We used to do quite well out of it from the people leaving the pub on Saturday night and the Church goers on Sunday morning
We only stopped when the local Church complained that we were doing at a time that did not fit in with their schedule. (the real reason was that we always took all their donations on the Sunday morning. )

Many years ago after a heavy drinking and Casino session in Liverppol I was sitting on the steps of the bombed out church waiting for a Taxi. An elderly couple walked past me and the lady gave me £2.00. It took me by suprise and I was so shocked I said nothing. When they had gone I just fell about laughing so much I had tears running down my face. I gave £10 to a guy selling the big issue later that day
