Am I right in thinking, or did I mishear something about BBC Sounds not being available outside the uk?
This would be a bit of a pain, would I need to have a VPN?

I've just tested it, using a vpn to appear outside the UK, and BBC Sounds works fine. What isn't available is iPlayer.

Whilst the porn site are making the headlines, such sites as reddit are already impacted and it won't be long before Twatter (I think these have already said they will enforce it at somepoint), facebook et al have to follow suit.
Don't forget Wikipedia which is also impacted and having to talk about restricting access from the UK
Cecilia Ivimy KC, for the government, said ministers had reviewed Ofcom guidance and considered specifically whether Wikipedia should be exempt from the regulations and rejected that. She said they had decided that Wikipedia “is in principle an appropriate service on which to impose category 1 duties”, and how ministers had arrived at that choice was not “without reasonable foundation nor irrational”.

"As of February 2025, it was found that men between the ages of 25 and 34 years made up Facebook's largest audience, accounting for 18.5 percent of global users. Additionally, Facebook's second-largest audience base could be found with men aged 18 to 24 years. "

...and what percentage of those are zombie accounts? It is daily usage that counts. I doubt many under 25 uses it anymore and doubt many under 18 has even heard of it other than their parents going on about it. Below is up to 2022. Extrapolate to 2025....

I never use Facebook, don't have it installed any more but it is my login for a few other apps like Spotify. No idea if that means I'm counted as an active user.

You can always turn the VPN on or off depending on what you want to watch/listen to. Usually just a single click to do so, once it is set up.
