Christmas is coming- should I ask for a helmet cam?

Do they make motorists drive more carefully around cyclists?

Has footage of dangerous driving ever resulted in a positive outcome, whether prosecution, or at least a good talking to by plod?

This one's old hat for the seasoned forumers, but seen as you're newish to the CC.

Not a successful prosecution, as the driver wasn't even cautioned ;), but certainly made for a successful insurance claim .

F***ing hell!! How was he not even cautioned?

When I got hit in september the guy pulled out of a junction on a roundabout without looking as I was heading across its cyclelane. He waited until I was right in front of his bonnet, bang!

I have that on video. So in response to the OP it did work for me - when there were enough witnesses about standing over me I told them all I had a camera on the bike. The guys face just changed - he'd already apologised for hitting me, but I think the severity of his actions sank in - there was no way he could weasel out later.

I was very lucky.

I honestly cant comment on them making drivers behave, as tbh I captured hours of footage of silly people (cyclists incuded) in my 3 months filming. I dont think drivers know what to look for if it was ever classed as a deterrant.
