Have I become a fair-weather commuter?

I think the major factor has been going from an 8 hour working day to a 12 hour,
Now you tell us:rolleyes:.
!2 hour days are a struggle enough without prolonging the journey there and back. Enjoy your cycling on your days off and don't beat yourself up for not cycling to and from a 12 hour day at work:smile:.
I'm glad you Liked my earlier post, taking it in the spirit in which it was intended.

The weather has been pretty fair: maybe you're bored of the same old routes, restricted by the work timetable.
Do some leisure rides while the rain stays off?

n +1 might work

or finding an alternative route, perhaps.. something more scenic or interesting ?

But - is cycling controlling you, or are you controlling cycling ? I think you've proven that you're in control. Sometimes I wonder how much cycling is controlling me rather than the other way round.

Staying in control is important.

There is no shame in it mate.
We get no tax break for cycling in the rain or extra time off from work, or more consideration from other road users, I don't get no fanfare upon arriving at work cause its been pissing it down
So if it looks shoot out there, don't do it , I certainly don't anymore.

I was car free for over 30 years, I cycled 5 sometime 6 days a week in all weathers, a couple of years ago I brought a car, I restrict my use of the car for getting to work to once a week or just use it when its raining come time to go to work, yes my annual mileage is down a few hundred miles, but I recon I've done my share of foul weather riding.
potsy you just need to get back in the habit of cycling to work, when the car keys are calling just ignore and get the bike out instead.

I noticed that the rot seemed to set in when my forum rides dried up! I could nearly always rely on you turning up for them, @potsy, and your 2 good years of commuting seemed to start from that first one you did with me and @bromptonfb.

We ought to start doing those Waddington rides again to get you back in the mood ...

Could have something there Colin, I think the pressure of knowing there was another hilly ride on the agenda kept me honest when it came to keeping up the commuting mileage.
Will give you some dates of when I'm not working and see if we can sort a ride out
