As a kid we were planning on going to the London dungeons. Me and my Dad had just been in London so noted down the website address from some tube posters.

Got home, typed it in together...and the screen quickly got hidden and I got told to go away for a minute....as some dodgy "whips and chains" sex website came up.

We'd obviously typed the domain in incorrectly or someone had a typo domain or something.

Another time, when I was doing work experience I wanted to go on a website which had different programming tutorials (was working for an IT firm). I typed in what I remembered the website to be...but it obviously wasn't that as some gay porn site opened up. I quickly shut it and was pretty shocked as I wasn't expecting it.

I'm not sure if the guy next to me saw the website or not, but he didn't say anything.

So yes you can...but ultimately it is unlikely.

Working on an adopted road design spec I needed to know how thick the Type 1 road base should be. Searching for suitable suppliers I typed in hardcore suppliers in the NE... never again.

Once when I was looking for something for my niece, I typed what she wanted into Google and all the results were for Gay Porn  she was too young to understand why I went through pages of results without clicking on any of them before telling her I couldn't find what she wanted

it depends what your looking for. some things can be similar,

for example, searching for triumph motorcycles but just putting 'triumph' in can bring up results for triumph ladies undies

looking for five on demand and typing fiveod can bring up a list of sex related sites.

found both those out the hard way.

folks, there's a big difference between dodgy links coming up in searches, or even accidentally clicking a link to something. These things, at worst, get you to the front entry page of an questionable site. Most of us have had this sort of thing and, thankfully, it's becoming less prevalent.

I think the point here is can you accidentally end up viewing extreme/illegal material? The answer has to be no, there is no way to that material without a serious search or the entry of payment information. Claiming it's for research purposes for a book doesn't wash either!

I think MacB hits the nail in that you're unlikley to find anything seriously illegal without first crossing a paywall. I have however followed links from a reputable site to the less reputable including content that makes the girls in lycra shorts look modestly dressed!! A colleague some years ago, searching for a picture of a well known Judge clicked a link to come face to screen with a stark naked male Dane!!

And of course one link from that thread (at least for a while) led to a video on Red Tube.

Anyone who got the e-mail from Magnatom done a search on the address given. Check the bottom, sorry the last two on the page.

They even list the same address.
