Not condoning thievery in any way, shape or form, but who on earth leaves valuable or sensitive items in their car overnight?
Assuming that she did?

probably didn't and @Accy is an unwitting stooge in an insurance scam...
Well if it was a scam, which I doubt, she's taking a risk of losing a very good, hard studied for job, as you can see below. I think she innocently made a daft mistake in either leaving items on display or leaving her car unlocked, or maybe even both.🤔The list of stolen items she reeled off to our man Accy seems quite unlikely if they weren't there to be stolen in the first place.
Only an attempted stealing of my Austin Maestro (yes, someone actually tried to steal it)
Early 90s when car theft and joy riding was epidemic. Found it about 6 ft from where it should be, stuck in the middle of the road.
Door and ignition barrel repairs needed.
Haven't heard of a car being stolen for years round here...normal cars of course, not the expensive stuff that seems the target nowadays

Had my first car stolen. Mark 2 Escort that was about 10 years old. Only had it 18 months. Disappeared off the driveway early one evening. Never seen again.
Around 1985 I had my 10-year-old Ford Escort stolen. I spotted it a few streets away from me and 'stole' it back. The boot was crammed full of booze and porn mags.
It was used to tow away my work colleagues speedboat several miles away.
