4 Bikes do me for now...

The main one - a tourer made from the crashed remnants of an EBC Country Explorer , used to turn a Streetfinder into a capable tourer for most things, weekend rides and spring - autumn commuting
The pub one - a 3 speed coaster brakes Saracen Pylon won for silly money on eBay. For pub use and wet/slimy commuting
The MTB - 90's Raleigh M-Trax - again a lucky snipe on eBay, upgraded with some period Campag Stheno rims - for..erm..MTB'ing and for snow. Of course, we've had no snow since I got it
The Catrike - because sometimes life should just be about fun

All have their place and purpose

MTB - last used over a year ago
Synapse - day to day bike
Supersix - used once this year, only used on sunny warm days so in reality it is not really worth having it against what it cost, that said i love riding it.

Started off with 2 road bikes and a basic mtb
Then i bought a fast (ish) road hybrid
Sold the Triban as it wasn't being used enough
Then came the Dahon for commuting into London

So 3 bikes - all very different, but all very worthy of my attention

thanks all for the comments, I bought the cube agree sl about September 2011 and last September I bought the Cube nature pro just lately I use the hybrid more often and the only outing on the road bike was when the mudguard (rear) came loose so I used the road bike and sorted the hybrid when I got back.
they both feel very different maybe the road bike will get out more when the weather improves.

I used to have a hybrid and two road bikes. It got to the point where I just wasn't riding the hybrid and sold it. Over the winter though I've actually missed it as an alternative for the daily commute (although at the time I had to sell it anyway due to finances).

Well if u ad to sell it fair enough but have a rule never sell anything unless you have to as there will always come a time your regret it, the money goes and so does the bike or thing you sold ...

Keep it your regret it if u sell it,, i always think does it matter if u use it or not you have it thats the most important thing.

I've only got four. Clearly not enough.
Nah not enough time to buy another one . . .

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Steel Peugeot 525 Comp - 1992 vintage, not much ridden nowadays. Kept because I can. Ribble winter - for the winter, and the wet - Ribble 7005SL, for the spring, both alloy, and a Rose Xeon CRS 3000, for days like today when the sun's shining and the roads are clean. Carbon. Because I'm getting on in years, and if not now, maybe never .......

I'm on 3 atm

Giant defy, sat on the turbo all its life, has been used pretty much daily through the week up until this year when work commitments have relegated it.

Ridgeback Panorama, world tour, used as daily commuter, touring, winter hack, and when I just want a lazy comfy ride out.

Rose xeon RS, drier days, weekends and when I feel like something a bit livelier, weather and road conditions determine wheelset.

18 months without a new bike ..............

Joshua Plumtree

Approaching perfection from a distance.
I'll raise you with 5.

Trek 7.1 hybrid for pottering around town and getting me to tennis and badminton,

Carrera TDF as an autumn/ early winter trainer,

Bianchi Via Nirone for dry winter rides and wet summer rides and if I think I'm gonna be riding at a higher pace in the winter and know I won't be able to keep up on the Carrera.

Trek Madone 4.9 for those lazy hazy, long day in the saddle, summer rides and,:sun:

Planet X Stealth TT bike, used for cycling in a straight line and falling off around corners. :stop:

I'll see your five, although sadly I can raise you;

MTB, the title says it all
Pub bike, as above
Brompton, often used for a trip to a pub where a train is involved. Occasionally used around the smoke
Winter / wet weather road bike, a recent upgrade, now with discs and proper guards
Light and fast dry spring, summer & autumn road machine, made in Italy

Where to start.......

Bikes have different uses.

A Brompton will never match the speed of an Airnimal which lacks the suspension of the Birdy - which explains 5 of our bikes

Equally none of the other bikes can match the capacity of the Pashley Delibike, except the Christiania trike which takes the mobility scooter justifying two more.

The Cartike Expedition is faster and lower, but cannot go on atrain like the Gekko folding trikes - which explains three more

.... and so on

You can never have too many bikes / trikes!
