Yep, commuted to T4 Monday for a flight to Rome and to T5 today for a flight to Berlin, last week I commuted to T3 for Dusseldorf and Copenhagen. No probs :tongue:

Used to drive for Saints (the airfreight mob at Colnbrook) and if down that way with a bike I would sometimes do a cycle round the perimeter of the airport watching the lucky people flying off to their various destinations. Always thought that the cycling facilities around the perimeter of the airport were good, but the BIG problem was ..... how do you cycle into the central bit where terminals 1, 2, and 3 are? As far as I could figure out, cycling through the one and only access tunnel is prohibited?

I ride through Staines and back along Stanwell moor road ,eventually turning left along the A4 and into Langley ... nice chunk of road to cycle along.

There are two tunnels each way; the single lane one into the central area is for cars & bikes, the dual lane is for everything except cyclists.

Going out, the single-lane tunnel is currently bicycles only...

I guess the question to ask for those of us who have yet to venture by bike - is it adequately signposted or has the poster a valid point?

Work out your route beforehand and it's not too bad...

The 'discrimination' to which I was referring was mainly in the massive growth industry that is aviation security.

Yep we've tripped up security around Gatwick. You must realise whether on the pavement, traffic lights or an airline terminal bikes are MUCH MORE DANGEROUS than motorised traffic. Ask the folks at Glasgow Airport when a couple of cyclists cunningly disguised their steeds as a 4WD ...
