Didn't you have a telly then?I used to visit Hebden Bridge quite often to see Friends. I was not really aware of it's reputation back then, I just thought it quaint.

I heard a family living in Heptonstall referred to as 'offcumdens' (translation: 'bloody outsiders'); they were not true Heptonstall residents. The youngsters were born there, their parents were born there, but their grandparents had only moved there about 50 years earlier, so the whole family were not considered as coming from these 'ere parts! You can't become a Yorkshireman, You've to be born a Yorkshireman. Owt else doesn't count!!

Beat me to it! Did I tell you I hate you?Didn't you have a telly then?
I've heard that story too, but not seen the pictures........But perhaps the most curious aspect as a Northern Yorkshire town is it is the lesbian capital of the UK, if not Europe, with a great deal of inward migration of lesbian couples according to the estate agents.
WhateverrrrBeat me to it! Did I tell you I hate you?
Hebden Bridge - my friend is to film there as part of a film on economic growth in the North. It is doing well.
The reports I hear are it is beautiful, home to many local businesses, much of them internet based but also well populated by people commuting to either Leeds or Manchester.
