Not a provocative question 'cos I'm very sceptical of the benefits of cycling helmets but what's your personal reasons (of the many possible ones) for not wanting to wear it.

Are skating helmets specific or are they the same as cycling helmets? Are they as well ventilated? I can see that the 2 activities create similar design requirements.

I don't want to wear a helmet because I think helmets don't have any significant safety benefit, cycling is very safe and thus doesn't need helmet wearing, and I find them uncomfortable.

Skating might be a little less safe than cycling. I just use a cycling helmet for skating, more ventilation (but still not enough), and looks cool.

I'm not sure anyone finds them comfortable but I do understand that the lack of comfort may well be a good and legitimate reasona for note wearing them.

But you go on to say....

It is uncomfortable on a bike but now it apparently cool on a skater. Mmmmm.....? ;)

I just like something to be on my head to protect it from the floor when it jumps up to meet it, most of the time its redundant, ugly, uncomfortable and makes me look a goon but I kind of feel naked without it now and wont ride without one in case my kids see me, a child at my kids school did die, he was not wearing one, might not have helped but I suspect he would be alive today had he been wearing one.

You'll never change BM's opinion.;)

It would be very safe, granted if there wern't goons in metal boxes driving about.

That's not pedantry, it's either not reading or not understanding the meaning of contradiction.

I think some cycling helmets look cool regardless of what sport you're doing at the time, but skater (i.e. aggressive skating potty helmets) helmets don't look cool. Ever.

*Ahem* I used to be an ardent helmet religeonist you know. Bit of a change of opinion there then. Anyway, let's not go further down this route, as it's off topic.

It's still safe even with those goons hooning about, and considerably safer than the average UK cyclist for experienced and skilled cyclists like you.

Flattery will get you places (as well as your bike).;)

Seriously with some of the d1cks out there I think there is more to it than that.

OK. Was wondering if there was room for people to suggest possible solutions - I guess you just need to find somewhere on the bike to stow it.

A bent is diiferent but I used to think Shimano gear cable routing was specifically designed to provide helmet stowage on the bars.
