Oh the irony....

You know I have a lovely new bike, and that I'm forced to wear a helmet for work (skating)? Well, there isn't enough room to carry it in the tailbox anymore, so I'm going to have to wear it whilst communting. Bah!

I thought the tradition was that you should dangle it from your handlebars or is that not possible on your strange contraption ?

Mandatory lid wearing skating eh... and you obey....what's the world coming to !!!

Yeah, I hate it. It's because the instructor association I'm qualified started out as Leftpondian before becoming global.

OTOH skating does tend to give lots of road rash. Maybe the helmet is good for that, even if it'll do nothing for serious head injuries.

Can't you bungy it to the tailbox, using one of those cargo net things?

Is your tailbox carbon? In that case, you could say the helmet is protecting it from scrapes...

Stuff it down the front of your shorts like some kind of oversized cricketer's box. It would make people wonder just what you had that needed that much protection.... ;):

Not a provocative question 'cos I'm very sceptical of the benefits of cycling helmets but what's your personal reasons (of the many possible ones) for not wanting to wear it.

Are skating helmets specific or are they the same as cycling helmets? Are they as well ventilated? I can see that the 2 activities create similar design requirements.
