I'm planning on cycling to work a few times a week from Broxbourne (Herts) to Chancery Lane in the City. I've recently done a few test runs using the River Lee to Stratford then onto the Hertford Union then along Regents canal eventually popping out at Angle, I then have a short trip down Roseberry Ave towards Chancery lane. All about 24 miles - 1hr 45mins Its a safe journey as its mostly tow paths.

I'm thinking about coming of the River at Tottenham and using Cycle Superhighway down to Liverpool Street to cut out some miles and time!

Does any body use this route ? Is it finished and are we mostly separated from the traffic ?

Any Advice would be great

Cheers,

D

Welcome to CycleChat @damborambo. :okay:

I've moved your post to the general cycling forum as it'll likely get more eyes on it and hopefully some feedback from people who cycle that route - or can advise.

Cheers,
Shaun

Heh. I work just down the road from you! I work not far from holborn station!

I tried following the lea a few times but to be fair that route takes fairly long as it goes around the outskirts before heading into the city. It took me about a little over an hour or so just to get to work from the Hackney marches near me. Best to stick to the roads where you can keep a decent speed on the flats if you have a road bike

It might cut some miles but I'm not sure it'll cut much time because CS1 isn't really super. It's more like a refurb of the old London Cycle Network Route 10 with a few junction improvements. http://lcc.org.uk/articles/cs1-superhighway-or-superquietway or official info https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/routes-and-maps/cycle-superhighways (but calling CS1's +10% detour "direct" is daft).

Cycling in Hackney is fairly common but not much fun IMO because its borough council is stuck in the past, taking every opportunity to prioritise everything else above cycling.

cycle.travel/map suggests going around the other edge of Hackney: leaving the river at Craven Park Road, riding past Stamford Hill station and picking up LCN Route 7 at Gillespie Road. That would cut about a mile off, but it depends whether you feel that's worth riding another five miles on London streets. Stamford Hill station wouldn't be a bad place to pick up CS1 if you feel it's worth a try once you know it's finished.
