Otasco-Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company, two stores left in business, down from 455 in 1968. Chapter 11 bankruptcy after employee ownership,1988. Franchisees could use the name for 99 years, so there's two stores left in Oklahoma, in Beaver (no snickering,
@Fnaar ) and Marlow. These bikes would have been made for the tire shop trade, probably by Huffy and Murray, who also made a lot of private label bicycles, along with Columbia. A basic level bicycle. I have no idea why tire stores in the States and Canada sold bicycles. Basic offerings from Sears (J.C. Higgins, Ted Williams, Free Spirit,) J.C. Penney, Western Auto(Western Flyer) Gambles(Who actually sold what I think was a Hercules, at least the one I had was, marked "Made in England" and Montgomery Ward (Hawthorne, Open Road?) K-Mart(All-Pro-mostly Columbias, except for the Italian Model, probably a Chiorda)and Coast to Coast, were mostly made by Murray, Huffy, or Columbia. Most department stores had varying levels to offer through the catalog, I know Sears sold Puch/Steyr bicycles as part of their line, and I believe they had a Campy-equipped 531 frame bicycle as well, at one time.
