Hi, I was told about this forum by an existing member who mentioned that there had been some chat about the legality of eBikes with throttles up to 15.5mph. I am the founder of (Mod Edit: company name removed) and was involved with the DfT when this law was being made. I was invited to join the DfT eBike consultation group when I was Chair of the British Electric Bicycle Association, BEBA. BEBA is now a part of The Bicycle Association of Great Britain, BAGB. I may be able to shine some light in one or two tech points.

All the best, David

Luckily I built my e-Trike before the regs changed, it is throttle only i,e. no sensors anywhere to malfunction although it does have brake lever cutouts. Speed is governed/restricted by the controller which will only allow the wheel to power to a certain RPM (3 phase 'hall effect' hub motor)

Trouble free for nearly 8 years now.
