just recently back into cycling originally did some mountain biking - more recently aged 45 started road cycling bought old claude butler for £30 and have had great fun attempting to get fit rollers & all !!
Now looking to upgrade bike and as most people unsure of what to go for , definitely need triple chainset lower gearing as the mountains/hills here are severe

I would like the option of a little off-road (cyclocross) maybe but all the bikes seem very expensive.
Like the look of most road bikes specialized/Giant etc but would like the best of both worlds I guess.
Im sure you have heard this b4 but I would appreciate your recommendations , Im 5ft 11 aged 46 overweight budget £4 - 500 & just need a bike to meet my requirements.
Im sure I will be contributing to this forum as I progress hopefully.
