Hi Choob Driver!

Aww, don't call yourself a big girl's blouse - I think you're big and brave and clever to get on your bike! It also takes a bit of chutzpah to get off and push and still go ahead and get back on the bike next time. Kudos!

My granddad was a tube driver about a million years ago btw.
Cool, which line?

Thank you everyone for all your kind words of welcome. Looking forward to going out tomorrow. Planned a 5.5 mile route and this time no shopping so no equivalent to a small human on me back

Can i ask why did you opt for a heavy MTB??
big, heavy bloke and the road conditions are terrible round my way. Is 12.3kg terribly heavy. I can carry up stairs etc with ease.

I also intend to ride across commons such as Wimbledon after a while.

Hi @Choob Driver and :welcome:.

The first few rides will always be difficult if you haven't been cycling for a long time. It will get better.

Looking at the bike, the handlebar is as high as it will go currently, without changing the stem or fitting something like this: link. Realistically, if you've only done a couple of rides you won't have got used to the riding position just yet.

Keep us posted and when you have questions there are loads of helpful people on here willing to answer.

You make a valid point about getting used to the handlebar height. Last couple of days they felt a little low, thinking about todays ride I don't think I noticed it as much. I'll give it a month and see.

Thanks
