Hello from Adelaide

Hi Folks,
Thanks for admitting me to your august company! I'm in Adelaide, Australia - a place that would be totally unremarkable if it wasn't the host for the Tour Down-Under & the self-proclaimed 'cycling capital of Australia'. I'm not at all sure that it deserves that title (dreamt up by politicians keen to promote business activity etc) but there are actually some wonderful things happening in the way of longer distance separated bikeways etc.

How is cycling perceived in Oz ? I had a school friend moved their and had to cut all ties as he a raving loony who thinks cyclists are only good for running over and I wondered if that was the general cultural attitude or is is because he's just a numpty

Hello. Love Adelaide. I got to race my bike there in 2015 but we only did the centre of the city.
Love the train to Glenelg. Feels like a beach off of Baywatch.
