A couple of twitter users have asked me to say avoid CS2 by Bow as its difficult for many riders... I don't know London so hopefully a regular will come here and offer alternatives and advice

Sounds like a good ride.

Whilst my commute comes in (and out) of London from the south east, its a comparable distance. I suspect that, in time you'll be cracking that 15 miles in around an hour.

I don't ride every day though, i tend to,ride about 3 times a week.

Thanks for the tips guys, much appreciated. I plan on getting my new bike, BMC Ultegra 2012 this Sunday. Originally i did order size 51 as i'm 5ft 5 but the frame was to long for me when i tried it yesterday so hopefully the 48 will be much better. :-)

I used to do Upminster to London. Best route I found was past Elm Park station, Rosewood Ave, Mungo Park Road, Simpson Road then down Rainham Road. Then head towards the A13 down Ballard Lane, cutting through Orchard Road and Marsh Green Road. The A13 crawls to Lodge Ave flyover so it is quicker to drop on the road for that bit. Then it is off road cycle path and CS3 to Canning Town.

And if you have a bike on Saturday, I am going to Stratford by 9:30 if you want to ride down with me. There is a TdF event on http://queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/whats-on/events/2014/5/la-fete-du-tour and a couple of local SkyRides.

Hi Grace, welcome.

Read Cyclecraft. Be assertive. Own the road/lane when appropriate. Enjoy yourself. Smile at pedestrians. Ignore drivers. (Both groups may on occasion put your safety and wellbeing at risk). Learn to maintain and repair your own bike (if you don't know how). Clean shorts everyday. Carry an extra spare tube and be prepared to give it away, good karma saves lives.

Thanks Mr Cellophane, really appreciate that, unfortunately I won't get my bike till Sunday, but next time your heading that route, please let me know and I'll be happy to join you.
