Do you know what the thing is a sunbury on a Sunday ? There are loads of road bikes going from Hampton to Walton and back taking in sunbury between the water works . Is that a club thing ? I notice none of the do over 100 mph like me

When I road with the Twickenham CC in the early seventies we used to do a Sunday 10 tt on that road.

I didn't even think about the times relating to speed I just looked at the app . I guess it isn't that good after all !
Yeah, looks like there's some kind of fault in the app. A basic inexpensive cycle computer works well for keeping track of speed and distance.

Someone will no doubt come along and recommend an app that gives more reliable results  (not me though - don't have a smart-phone)

:welcome: 100mph on a cycle...are you sure that in your "mid life crisis" you didnt buy a Harley? Seriously though, 45 miles in one hit is good going, I've been struggling to make 20 miles in 2 hours!!!

I would suggest that as I'm in your neck of the woods we go out for a ride, but I don't think id be able to keep up!

As for food, a couple of my favourites are petit sale and cassoulet. Lentils and beans are excellent sources of protein, vitamins and fibre, coupled with fatty meat such as duck legs or pork belly. They feel like sin, but fat is more efficient at releasing energy than carbohydrate over longer time. As long as you're burning off the fat before it has a chance to deposit in your body, you'll be good.

This is a fairly easy petit sale recipe. Waitrose sell cooked and pulled ham hock if you aren't up to cooking your own, and pork belly slices are easy to come by and cheap.

Good ol' Delia has a good and easy cassoulet recipe:

If you get a slow cooker (cheap as chips at any electrical shop) you can soak the pulses overnight, chuck everything in the slow cooker in the morning then have tasty food waiting for you when you get home from work.

Thanks for the tips . As for the speed and distance I owe most of that to the stranger in Lycra that I followed around the park to see if I could keep up . I felt a bit rude sitting behind him but I didn't have the power to overtake him until the end . I'm going to try the same trip this weekend at some point but do more laps of the park . I have a cheap specialized computer on the bike that should give better stats !

44.67 miles done today and it looks like the app is working properly . 3 hours 18 minutes . Backed up by the specialized onboard computer . I thought I best update the stats so you didn't think I was some kind of super fit newbie :shy:

Ah, that brings you back amongst us mere mortals.;)

Still a decent time though, and you'll get quicker as you get into it.

I find its always best to make yourself look stupid at the start so when you do it again no one is disappointed

I have a few questions about road bikes and upgrading ( over time ) but not sure where to post them . There doesn't seem to be a section on the forum for road bikes . Maybe under commuter ?
