Just signed up for cyclechat forums.

I've been cycling for > 20 years now, off-road, on-road and touring bikes.

I've cycle-toured the USA, cen tral Europe, Norway, Corsica, Cyprus, Southern France, Chile and Argentina.

Welcome, from another Scotsman here, likewise I will post some recommendations later. Points that spring to mind immediately though:
1. Bring waterproofs!
2. Bring "midge" repellant (a midge being a small flying insect which hunt in swarms. The bite is harmless but annoying, especially when hundreds of them come at you at once. Very prevalent in damp, still conditions at dawn/dusk in west of Scotland especially).

Where I live we hardly ever cycle in the rain, so I hope we'll have good weather.
Will going to the eastern side of Scotland reduce the chance for rain? I understand the highland gets much more rain.

The rain here is an equal opportunities rain catches up with you wherever you go.
You might get lucky with the weather, but don't count on it, come prepared.
It's normally quite warm in June for our standard, about 18 degrees I guess, but can get cooler at night.
