Hello boyracer and welcome. I'm new here too. Your new bike sounds like a decent starting point. I hpoe you haven't junked your old one, once you get into DIY maintenance I'm sure you could sort it out as a papershop bike for next to nowt. I've lost count of the number of old junkers I've resurrected and given to mates to do just this!

Maybe it is something in the water, it certainly isn't road maintenance that's tempting us out. Then again the canal towpath's got a better surface than half the roads round here so maybe it is!
