Hello all
The Prologue (anyone here remember Frankie Howard?)
Back in Jan 2011… 50+ & feeling fat! 12 stone 4 on a 5 foot 6 frame… BMI not good! I stopped the mid- morning biscuits & started walking during the office lunch break. By March this had helped a bit, but the rate of weight loss was slow. More exercise was required.
Like many people, I had a dusty bike in the shed which only came out on high days & holidays. Could it get me the seven miles to work? The first time I tried it took me 48 minutes, but I really enjoyed it.
I was soon cycling to work most days. The weight decreased and the fitness increased and I now arrive at the office in around 38 minutes, feeling invigorated! I’m down to 10 stone 7, and in celebration, I have treated myself to a Giant Defy 2 road bike (2011 model in the end of season sale). What a difference!!
If it’s practical, I’m hoping to keep riding into the Autumn & Winter season. Bring it on!!
