Welcome to the M/cr massif! Loads of M/cr commuters on cycle chat. I commute all year round even on the very cold days, the -10C days are beautiful, it's the horrid wet days that spoil it for me. If it is more than light showers I bail and jump in the car because it is supposed to be pleasure, not torture. I still clock up around 3000 miles a year even as a fair weather commuter and soon you will too.
