Hello from not so sunny Spain!

Just joined today, back on a bike (MTB) after 25 years, used to ride TTs up and down the A1 and round Harrogate/Otley but now so unfit it was time to do something, so back on the bike it is (hate running).

Lived in Spain for the past 15 years near Marbella, any one else about down here that is a novice, unfit and needs a ride out partner?

Entered the Nightrider as a goal for next year, its not a race but I want to do it knowing I am fit and capable of a respectable time!

Anyway that's me, hello everyone and if your in the area SHOUT!

Hi. I'm a bit inland of you, in Alhaurin el Grande.

I've been a roadie for years, and I've just starting getting into MTBing (just bought my first really nice bike). As you probably know already, the MTBing around here is fantastic.

Your certainly right there lulubel the MTB'ing around here can just about test every ability, for me its about getting the legs going after over 25 years of no riding. The big hills will have to wait for now, plus I need to try and get some road miles in for the Nightrider charity ride in London, its a goal I have set myself and whilst it isn't a race I want to be fit enough to take it on knowing I can and will do it, whilst raising money for charity.

Yes your a long way off, but could you recommend any goo bike shops that carry a decent amount of stock? Want to try and get fit up for a road bike and a bit unsure about doing it online as I seem to sit between various sizes depending on what make I go for....

Its getting lonely out on the tracks and trails, is there nobody out there local :-)

Are the trails around you really quiet? I find I meet lots of people when I'm out riding, and if we're going the same way at about the same speed, we ride together and talk in a mixture of broken Spanish and English for a while!

I rarely see anyone but this is probably due to the times I am out, usually 10.30 to 11.00 in the mornings for a few hours and usually not weekends. I am quite happy by myself, but sometimes its good to have a companion to chat to and for safeties sake! My wife comes along on short slow rides, but today she fell of and broke her arm so have been in the hospital all day!!! :-(

Even now I have started on the roads I only pass the odd bloke or some geezer on a TT bike comes whizzing past me. The clubs and groups seem to be weekends....

I just ride locally around the Guadalmansa River and Forest Hills area....
