Hi! Also from Peterborough. Check out Cambs Custom Cycles for a Peterborough based beginner friendly group.
Before Armageddon, there was usually a ride a week, only as fast as the slowest rider. Mostly road, but sometimes MTB and other types.

I'm in PCC although I've not ridden with them for ages and ride with faster groups but PCC do (or at least did pre lock down) a social ride from Rutland Cycles at 9am on a Saturday and an even slower ride from the Square at 9am on Sunday https://www.peterboroughcyclingclub.co.uk/club-rides-winter-spring-2019/
