Another escapee here. I only went to live there for a year and I was there for nearly 12 Managed to break free of the Hanley ring road and headed as far East as I could. Go much further and you get wet feet

What's the outside world like?

cleaner, less prone to earth tremors and plates/pictures/shelving falling off walls randomly in the night...
but oatcakes are harder to come by sadly!

I know what you mean. I've been a regular to mid Suffolk for 30 year pounding the lanes east of Woodbridge./Debenham twice a year, Easter and autumn. I guess we are hill dodgers !

Oatcakes. Don't get me started ! I cycled past a barge on the canal one early morning and the smell of oatcakes just took all the energy out of my legs
