Welcome, not another one using a Carrera!?
I admit I was a bit dubious about getting a Carrera but it was a good deal, (only used a couple of times for£250)
I've had my 'Vanquish' now for two weeks and have found it very satisfactory I've changed the cassette to a more suitable range (11/25 Tiagra) and changed the chain to a KMC. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.
Probably need to upgrade the wheel set eventually but the ones on there at the moment are OK for a while.

I have been thinking of getting a Gryphon(second hand) when I come to the UK to do a bit of touring on. Seems like a good bike, only prob might be the double chainring. What was wrong with the chain?

The previous owner had left it wet and unlubricated. Rust. No sign of rust anywhere else though.

Welcome aboard.

You've reminded me of one of my favourite jokes:

Scottish woman gets into the dentist's chair. "Comfy" he asks? "Govan" she replies.
