Hello from Surrey

Hi all,

I live in Surrey, 37, GSOH, fit, charming, looking for some daytime....oh, hang on, wrong website

I currently ride a Halfrauds GT Aggressor XC3. I've always had a bike (usually the cheapest available) but in the last few weeks have started to take things a bit more seriously. I lived in the Alps for a number of years (a few years back) and have ridden some reasonably gnarly downhill trails (albeit taking the cable car up the hill...)

In recent weeks I have started to take an interest in road cycling, and have bought my first set of clipless pedals and shoes...how I ever rode without them is beyond me! My riding these days is mainly leisure stuff along the towpath and going to the shops, but I'm looking to take things up a notch and start riding regularly for fun, transport and fitness. (I ain't getting any younger!)

Aside from cycling, I love motorcycles (Yamaha Tenere, Yamaha R1 and Suzi SV650 in the household at present) and until recently had a reasonably fast car, Skoda Octavia vRS.

Hi and welcome to CycleChat. I'm road cyclist myself, can't be doing with all the mud off road. You've a lot of nice roads down your way although it must be a nightmare with the quantity of people wishing to test themselves on the likes of Box Hill.

So, SV650. Love that bike, almost bought one myself years ago but chickened out sticking to pedals. Naked, bikini or full faired?

Bikini, curvy not pointy. (That'll really confuse them)

I'm still trying to work up the courage to do the Box Hill climb, afraid that I'm going to keel over halfway up. Might just have to wait till after the Ride London 100 when there's less spandex around and the council have finished throwing gravel all over the roads!

Ah the classic SV style, gorgeous.

Box Hill isn't actually too bad a climb really doesn't ever really kick up, I rode it before they repaved it for the Olympics before it got busy. Gorgeous views!
