Hello everyone, new to road cycling here - I was always football and MTBs. Getting fairly addicted now. Done 180 miles here and there in the past 2 months on a Cannondale CAAD 8 purchased from the cycle scheme @ work. The goal is to get commuting from BL5 to work in Hardman Street Manchester. The Cat Eye comp I got free with the bike said it was 13.2 miles the one time I did it - ouch ! Round trip, no problem ! Need to buy a new tube tomorrow, might try Asda or Tesco tomorrow, sure I seen them in there..

Welcome.

Right on the doorstep of Belmont-nice climbs around there.

Evans might still have 3 for 2 offers from.

Hardman St-lawyer by any chance?

Hi Jon. Another Bolton guy here, but I work in Bolton as well so my commute is a doddle

I would recommend you use Geoff Smiths Cycles on St Helens Road for urgent bits a bob, his number is 01204 653509 and his service is excellent while his prices are generally in line with internet prices, and quite often better IME

I'd advise you always carry a spare tube, some patches, tyres levers and at least a manual pump, (C02 if want to get going quicker). None of this costs very much and ensures you never get stranded.

Keep up the good work and you'll be commuting before you know it. You might be surprised at the distances some on here do actually commute

Hi, I got an emergency borrow from a mate but I'l try Evans...thanks.

I ventured up to Belmont / Smithills way a last months. Great roads but the motorbikes scare the hell out of me around there. Talk about racing lines

A banker I'm afraid - American one to

Great thanks for the contact, I'd much prefer to buy local...I'l definately stock up on some spare carry kit. Luckily I wasn't too far from home but I got a couple of funny looks walking through my estate in socks to save my cleats !

I know of a guy who commute's in from from Chorley and I have at least 20 years on him so no excuses!

Welcome to the site buddy,i commute to Bolton everyday and use puncture proof tyres which have coped with all the crap on the roads including broken glass.....even rode to Cornwall fully laden with the same tyres and have not had a single problem but i guess i am tempting fate now and expect a bad ride tomorrow !

Rivington is good riding and you are in a prime spot to head North.

:hello:.... Im over in Leigh and venture through your place upto Rivington sometimes; Love that place....
