Hi everyone I'm new to this forum so thought I should pop up and say hello

I've only been cycling since the the end of April this year, cycling is something I've wanted to do for a good few years but always put it of with one excuse or another

Devastatingly back in march of this year my 3 month old daughter died of a extremely rare and undetected heart condition, this was a massive shock as there was no symptoms whatsoever and always thought she was very healthy

This touched the community very deeply and prompted 3 people who are cycling fanatics to ride 600 miles over 4 days starting from west Wales riding to Middlesbrough and back

They rode in memory of my daughter and fantastically over £5,000 was raised for the lullaby trust

This really inspired me to get a bike and actually get out riding, I've since become good friends with the cyclists and quite often ride with them at the weekend

I'm still very much a novice but am enjoying every moment on the bike and have entered the Pembroke 100 mile next April which gives me something positive to look forward to and try to achieve

Sadly I will never ride alongside my beautiful daughter so the very least I can do is ride for her and for myself

Look forward to chatting with you all and apologise in advance for some very novice questions that I'm sure to ask

Jason

Welcome to the forum.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter, our family suffered a similar loss a couple of years ago, other circumstances that myself and other family members have gone through really brings home how special the gift of life is.
What a wonderful thing those 3 cyclists did it restores your faith in humanity:smile:. There is lots lots of helpful and friendly people here on the forum so if you have any questions you will almost certainly get an answer! Good luck achieving your goal next April.

Very sorry to hear about your little girl  but what a fantastic amount raised in her memory!

I've recently got back into cycling after 6 years of (on-going) health issues. I'm hoping to get fit, lose weight and most of all, enjoy myself!

Mega warm welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your loss, I really would not know how to cope if it had happened to me. We are all here and willing to help if you need and I can recommend forum rides if there are any around your way once you have settled in.

Welcome Jason!
Yours is a sad story: great that cycling can lift your sorrow if only temporary.
You seem to have made fast progress, good, keep riding and tell us all about your rides
