hello im Gelf from Telford in the UK.

im 42yrs old now and for the last 20 yrs i havent done much exercise and even less cycling, ive gone from 85kg to 120kg in weight but i do have a large frame 6' 3".

ive recent started to cycle again but im finding ive got very little strength in my legs anymore.... after just 4 miles they are just wasted, so i thought id join your forum for some advice and encouragement.

Hello, welcome to CycleChat!
There are plenty of people on here who have started off like you - don't worry about rubber legs, just enjoy cycling what you can and you will be surprised how quickly leg strength builds up. And if you eat sensibly, cycling is a great way to help you to lose weight as well.

Hi and :welcome:
Just ride little and often to start with and gradually you'll get into the swing of it.
Just get out and enjoy yourself.
It all takes time but keep at it and you'll get results.
You made a good decision to take up cycling again. It will do you no end of good.

Hi Gelf, Hello from up the road in Market Drayton. I was the same as you 6 weeks ago. I was 110kg it's getting less now and 5 miles nearly killed me. This weekend I have ridden 63 miles over two days. It's only a no and if I can do it anybody can. Good luck and keep peddling!

Cheers Andy.
