Hi,

Well a bit about me... I'm from London (no I don't jump red lights...). I'm 14, and have done the cyclesafe scheme!
And what's made me sign up here is the recent deaths in London.

Regarding them, i've just wanted to become more experienced and see others opinions!

The cycle safe program is good but not good enough. For example filtering is not covered in it. So i've had to teach my self from filtering using youtube (mostly cyclegaz and a few others) , my dad's experiance (rides a motorbike through London). I'm by no far the most experienced cyclist - far from it. Well up until now i've been riding a highly modd'ed apollo mtb. But hey that being a overprice piece of chineese junk from halfords is just...

A few of you on youtube may have seen some of my comments - especially cyclegaz!

Anyway after all of that pointless rambling on I now feel like a old lady who's just had a plant pot stolen from her.

Regards,
Liam

Hi and a warm :welcome: to you Liam.
I'm glad I don't have to cycle in London. It's probably safer than it looks......................but for me? ... Nah.
:smile:I'm glad I live in the countryside.
Keep safe young sir!

Thanks for the warm welcome

I avoid riding in central London as I live on the outskirts!

Just looking into getting a road bike, drop handlebar style
As i'm still growing I don't want to spend £500+ on a bike. Infact I don't even have that much !

I have been looking at getting this: http://www.bikes2udirect.com/B5733.html I'm only 5,1ft so the 47cm frame should suit me
I know its cheap but i am planning on upgrading stuff as it breaks. E.g chain!
I can ride my MTB on a flat road at 17 mph comfortabley with 2.1" knobby tyres. Its also a 16kg frame so..

:welcome: to cycle chat Liam!
You can indeed learn a lot of useful cycling tips from this forum.
I was a wee bit older than you  when I started cycle commuting, this forum has helped me a lot, from tips on mechanicals to road position.
Enjoy your cycling, ride safe!

Hi Liam and :welcome:.

You might be better off looking for a decent secondhand road bike rather than a cheap new one. As you're still growing you'll lose less money when you inevitably have to sell it on and will still have the chance to do upgrades and stuff as you want.

Enjoy your riding.
