It's great to be here - I've been reading the boards and must say that this is a great Forum.
I'm 59 years old and have always kept myself quite fit, walking/hiking/climbing. Before those interests I was a keen golfer, and before that a keen cricket player (bowler).
However. For the last few years things have "slipped a bit" - mainly due to the wife's illness, but as she is now fully recovered, I decided that the outdoors was the place to be - a place that I have always loved.
I considered getting the old bike out of the shed, but decided that that was not an option. To get the bike out of the shed, and out of the back garden and round to the front of the house; then setting off back to secure the back gate, and coming back round to the front - by then there was every chance that my bike would have been pinched (not that I can understand why anyone would want to pinch it - but people will pinch anything these days ...)
After a bit of research, I decided that a "folder" was the only option. I needed the bike to be available - near the front door.
I bought a Montague Boston 8. 21" frame.
Being an online purchase, it was up to me to get it out of the box and set it all up. Quite a challenge when you bear in mind that my last bike was a "sit up and beg". Leather saddle with springs. Rod brakes .... but what a bike! Slow and heavy maybe - but so comfortable.
You cannot imagine my delight riding this new bike! It is silent. Nothing wobbles, clangs or rattles. I am in love! The gears are amazing.
So, that's it. I'm looking forward so much to all of the journeys and adventures that are to come
