Hello, I've just joined the forum.
I like cycling, walking and camping. I also enjoy making and fixing things. I even make a little bit of money from fixing electronics. I often dabble in small restoration projects and I have started getting into upcycling recently. My next project is making a clock from a wheel. I've attached a photo of what I'm going for.

Hi Zane, welcome to the site.
So what kind of the cycling are you into, road , mountain, cross,
just new here myself, road for me, tough enough after 38 years off the bike.

Ahem, now fixed, been having one of those days,
put a squirt of ointment in both eyes today as prescribed,
waited a while for the vision to clear up, didn’t wait long enough,
spent 5 minutes scraping porridge off my ass, after mis judging the distance
between me and the plate which shared the dame seat, and now this crack
about a toad.

I'm really into cyclocross, but I also like family bike rides. We normally cycle along canals because my son has a fear of cycling on the roads. Do you know how to overcome this by any chance? I also like cycling in the countryside on sunny days. You can't beat a mini picnic on top of a hill with a good view!

Hi Zane.
Unfortunately no idea regarding fear of roads, it could be many
things, I know a child who hates noise, others say he is afraid of
the lawnmower and Hoover, I see him covering his ears for years,
then he copped on to the ear muffs he seen us using on the chainsaw,
now his imaginary fear is no more, he hated quads too, not any more.

But having an accident on the road, or a bad encounter with a car even
in a car park, horns blowing could even cause your son issues, and reason
enough to avoid roads.

I hope it all works out

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Welcome: looks like you'll fit right in here...

I like the project. I once made something similar using an old table saw blade from work.

Thanks for that, we will try some ear muffs. It doesn't make any difference whether he rides in front of behind someone, he is just worried about cars getting too close and knocking him off the bike. He isn't too bad on wider and quieter roads, so I'm trying to slowly build up his confidence.

Good idea to take it slow, it’s easy for someone who does not have
a fear to push someone who does, and that’s going to make the
other person very edgy and more fearful.
