Hello my is Drew and I am from the Bay Area. I bought a Specialized rockhopper for exercise and I was recovering from multiple foot surgeries. I was riding on paved trails around my house anywhere from 15 to 30 miles a trip 3 times a week. I quickly realized I wanted to move to a road bike so last week I sold the mountain bike and I'm debating on bikes currently. I am also pretty green when it comes to cycling and even the basics, so any reading material recommendations are welcome....

Have you been on a bike since the foot injuries?
My own experience after a broken ankle was that I needed to start back on an indoor static turbo trainer to build up strength for about a month before venturing on the road. And then the first few rides were quite delicate. The slightest dip in the road, causing the ankle to flex a little were a little challenging. Eventually the tenderness in the ankle goes and I could resume my normal cycling intensity.

So, worth considering a basic turbo as well.

Good luck
