Hi all,

I'm planning on undertaking a charity trip over to Europe at some point next year, either a charity organised one or one of my own, and am just looking around doing research and stuff. The charity ones seem to require you to raise X amounts of cash but then they only get about half of that cash, the rest covering costs and accomodation, now I'm sure I could raise that sort of cash and make sure they get a lot more than half but then then that is sacrificing the support and company that such a trip would include.

Anyhow, yeah I have a Peugeot road/racer 'project' in the garage which I inherited from family and with a few new tyres and a good oil it'll be as good as it can be. However, I may need more attention than the bike, its been a good 15 years since I properly rode a bike and although I'm fit, active and healthy in general I had a peacemaker fitted 6 months ago due to a heart condition (hence the charity ride) and my fitness regime has dropped significantly since its fitment. Doc says I'm good to crack on but psychologically its holding me back if I'm honest. I'm only 31 and do a physically demanding job so I don't know what the problem is really.

But enough waffle, I'm off to have a look around.

Cheers.

Hi Nutsack,
I must tell you about a brilliant run that would suit you just fine.
I was staying in a German town called Bernkastel-Kues on the Mosel river. The run is from there to Traben- Trarbach about 26km along the river.
It is very flat and safe with bikes taking pride of place next to the River. The views are outstanding and I am sure you would love iot. I hired a bike from the Hotel for €10 a day. Very comfy and suitable for the run.
